Tom Murphy is a celebrated artist, with more than forty sculptures on public display throughout the United Kingdom.

Tom, was born in 1949. He started his artistic career initially as a hobby and moved quickly to an intense period of self-study, mastering a range of techniques in many art disciplines.

Early on in 2018 and Tom was interested in working with MOWLL on a joint art project he entitled "Hidden Talents". Tom was interested in meeting self-advocates with an interest in art with a view of creating a joint sculptor and individual art pieces under his instruction and guidance. With a grant contribution from PH Holt we were able to purchase materials and equipment prior to the project starting in the autumn.

Tom's background is teaching adults with learning disabilities and so he was very experienced in guiding self advocates through chalk drawing, individual head sculptors and painting. Each session taught new skills and brought increased confidence. The pictures below demonstrate team working, intense concentration and immense pride. We aim to exhibit the work on completion of the project in 2022/2023.

His work is sought after by blue-chip companies such as Carlsberg, Liverpool John Moore's University, Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs, Merseytravel, Network Rail and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Tom's sculptures and memorials are familiar to people all across the world, they include: The Hillsborough Memorial, Billy Fury, Bill Shankly, Dixie Dean, The Liverpool Blitz and John Lennon to name but a few.
